He was gazing at another eye with the other eye. By Carlos del Puente
miércoles, diciembre 18, 2024In the city of Shadows, where buildings rose like giant coral reefs and rivers flowed with a grandeur that rivaled the stars, there lived a character known as "The Eye in the Eye". He was a being made of silk and wings that floated over the city, yet sitting in the center, motionless on a wooden bench of virgin wood, he moved with a slowness without sense.
One day, while the sun hid behind red butterflies like dragonflies, The Eye in the Eye discovered it was gazing at... itself with another eye. And in that moment, something extraordinary happened that defied everything that had ever been thought possible.
At once, the world around him began to change. Buildings turned back on themselves and became forests of trees entwining each other like branches on a giant tree. Streets flowed towards infinity, while people transformed into animals: men became birds, women into clouds, and children into bees.
The Eye in the Eye was amazed, trying to make sense of what was happening. But the answer came in the form of a verse that sounded like it came from the shadows themselves:
"The gaze is a cycle,
A labyrinth of eyes and shadows,
The world dissolves before you,
And time becomes a clock without direction".
As the words poured out, the city began to disintegrate. Buildings crumbled into stone temples, while streets became sand that scattered beneath his feet.
Finally, The Eye in the Eye was left alone on its bench, surrounded by a cloud of dust and smoke. He gazed out at the horizon, looking for something - anything - to see. And then he saw... another eye staring back at him with another eye.
And then, something more. Another eye that stared back at him with another eye. In that moment, The Eye in the Eye collapsed, transformed into a shadow that vanished into nothingness.
The city returned to its normal shape, but something had changed: people had lost the ability to gaze at another eye with another eye. And in the heart of the city, The Eye in the Eye remained, waiting... waiting...
