Kym looked at the oil drum, then at the diner, then at his own hands—no longer the hands of a bad guy, but not yet the hands of a healer.

Elias smiled faintly. “That’s enough.”

But standing there in the rain, tracing the letters with his fingertips, he felt something shift. Not ownership—never that—but resonance. Étienne Mûryer had passed away young, forgotten, cut short by a conflict no one in this town remembered.
